Building Bridges is pleased to provide information for the 2012-13 Building Bridges Scholars Program. Scholarships will be awarded to two qualified high school seniors from Asheville City and/or Buncombe County public schools. Several of the recipients are African-American, some whom are the first in their family to attend a college or university. The scholarship will cover in-state tuition and mandatory fees for up to four years at any North Carolina public university or technical/community college. The application deadline is April 1, 2013. All applications are held in strictest confidence.

DESCRIPTION:

In-state tuition and mandatory fees excluding health insurance for up to four years at any NC accredited public university or technical/ community college.

PURPOSE OF THE AWARD:

To encourage a motivated student who has clear financial need to continue his or her education.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicant must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA during the last two years of high school and be a resident of North Carolina at the time of application. Submit a completed application and all supporting materials on or before April 1, 2012. Demonstrate a clear financial need.

TERMS:

Awards are for the 2012-13 academic year plus three more years if a student maintains at least a 2.5 GPA. Recipients must be accepted to a North Carolina public university or technical/community college as a full time student. Candidates must be committed to completing a four year degree program. Awardees and at least one member of their family are provided the opportunity to attend a Building Bridges session.

APPLICATION DEADLINE:

Application and all supporting materials must be postmarked by April 1, 2013.
